yes i was going to suss this out and see whether we are better with knoppix or a gentoo-live cd.
again the question - what version of gcc is on the gentoo-live cd? there is a ebuild livecd-ng for gentoo which allows preparation of a custom built cdrom iso. I shall play some time and we can build live cd's with whatever we want on it.
