Following the docs I did the following:
env ALSA_CARDS="cs46xx" >> /etc/make.conf
...but this seems to have mucked up make.conf, because I now get
messages like this:
steves-tp root # emerge -p alsa
!!! Invalid token (not "=") \033
!!! Parse error in /etc/make.conf.
!!! Incorrect multiline literals can cause this. Do not use
them.
The initial error was different, and related to this line:
KONSOLE_DCOP_SESSION=DCOPRef(konsole-6502,session-1)
...but after rem'ing this out I get the error above.
Neither seem obviously related to the ALSA_CARDS stuff, and the file
*looks* OK - have I perhaps mucked it up by using KATE to edit it?
