I use Cygwin XFree86 if I want to connect to a Linux or Unix box. I only wish I didn't have to go in to the Cygwin shell to start it up. It would be nice to just have an icon on the desktop that I could click to bring up X.
Have a look at the startxwin.bat file in c:\cygwin\usr\X11R6\bin It starts a xterm by default but can be changed to run in diferent ways as needed.
