Not particularly good practice to edit remotely on the server imho. Very 
insecure, and an excellent way to create emergencies for yourself.

If you can bring yourself to use a Linux on the desktops, perhaps by using the 
Linux Terminal Server Project, Quanta-3.1 does _all_ that (and a lot more).
