DON'T PANIC. It was my first reaction when I received the identical
message a few days ago. I have since clarified the situation with Mz
Ennis of RH. This is about trademarks only, not copyright. Copying is
still ok. (but for how long?)
The Aussies were hit about the beginning of last month, it is now our
turn. Try a google on "red hat" "pink tie" "blue square".
What this means is that vendors like Mahesh and myself must remove all RH
trademarks from our sites and I have almost completed this. RH has been
renamed "Ingoakore" (No Name) with very heavy hints to what it is.
Mahesh must have got the RH letter about the same time as the message I
sent him. I am suggesting that all NZ vendors consider using "Ingoakore"
as the alias for RH.
Long term I don't like what RH is doing. IMHO I expect the RH will stop
providing images for download and could possably move to some form of
subscription access to its archives. RH is making the jump to become the
supplier to corporate world.
I have been looking at alternatives to RH and the best I have come up with
is asplinux 9.0. It looks as though these Russians have rebuilt about
20-30% of the RH packages and they claim that it is 100% RH compatable.
The downside is that the installion is a dog, and this is an insult to
dogs.
