Ahhh, the idea of scripting an IMAP export is sounding promising then.. 
Nick R mentioned it, and I've done a bit of mucking around with the PHP
Imap tools for this when I was looking at replacing our exchange box.. 

As long as you exclude the calendar, journal and contacts folders that
appear under the imap connection you can xfer mail at a few hundred
messages a minute from exchange to another IMAP box.. Replicate the
folders then fill em.

Roaming profiles must still be an option though?  Win 98 clients?

They must be webmail users?  Or they are very stressed users :-).

Fair comment, the cheapest option for brick-level is probably
Brightstore Arcserve at about $3k a site license...  


All of this looks like the CLUG geeks should get together and find a
mail server solution for Avonside Girls...  Anyone feel like slaving
over a hot keyboard to generate some good press for our cause, so to
speak?
