Version numbers don't show by themselves whether the copy/paste problem was some kind of bug or intended behaviour, and if it was a bug, whether it has been fixed. Instead of going to the effort of putting up screenshots (which don't have any extra value beyond giving a version number), you could have simply said that it works in the version X you've got. With little extra effort, you could have even looked up whether the changelog (included with the source you obviously have) mentions something about copy/paste issues, but instead you posted provocative comments with little solid information.
You would have to agree that there is little reason to compile a newer version of xpdf when I can already copy/paste straight into the text editor which I use 99% of the time with the older version I've got, hence my comment everyone decide for themselves whether they find it worth upgrading.
