Two things I can see coming of this:
1. Hardware that can be reprogrammed to run, amongst other things, Java
bytecode like the last 3 ARM CPUs.
2. The need for a Java bytecode Linux.
The what?
The *need*?
Why would someone put an Open and free operating system in a proprietary
programming language?
Would it be allowed under the GPL?
I know Sun is not Microsoft but Java is *not* a Free (note capital)
programming language.
Is the JVM Free? Note it was "Java bytecode" Linux, not "Java Linux".
I suspect that translating C to Java bytecodes is somewhat difficult
(read: not worth the effort). I don't think we will see Linux on the
JVM.
