C# has been "public domained" by M$. Although this is a sneaky trick by M$ to kill Java it still means that GNU can and has produced a C# compiler for Linux.The M$ stuff works on Losedose only (VB, C#), java works everywhere.
The Mono project has also been built up to provide that compatibility with the dotnet stuff.
