don't be too hard on Java nad Delphi.

Java is the only choice for many corporate level porpgrammers for web based
distributed projects. IBM has but hundreds of thousands of dollars into
Websphere and it is not going away in the near future. It is still
expereincing a strong growth and has become a reasonably mature and stable
language.

As for Delphi, pascal is an awesome language, Delphi is an excellent language
to work in as it compiles well, allows RAD and is portable. It also forces
you to thing about passing by value or reference, allows pointers, forces you
to think about memory allocation and freeing, including libraries as well as
giving you a thorough grounding in OO methodologies. Don't knock it. Even if
you only learn it as an educational tool it will ground you as a programmer
and make C so much easier to transition into later if you decide to go that
way. Delphi is also the development language for a lot more mainstram
programme than you might relaise. Just keep your eyes open for the delphi
style or standard icons in programmes you see and watch how many you do spot.

Cheers,

shane

PS How is my time setting now? Correct?
