I can only comment that the iscan source for gcc 3.x version of iscan
compile perfectly on gcc 3.2.3 (gentoo). I have no use for it, just
tried to help out Chris W.

sorry i cannot help you with the upgradability of rh7.3 to gcc 3.x.
However I do know that there can be problems trying to load modules
built with gcc3.x if your kernel is built with gcc 2.x

someone worked out a recent workshop meeting how to tell what version of
gcc your kernel is built with, but i cannot remember how we did it. i
jjust tried strings /boot/bzImage |grep gcc with no luck.. bunxip2
/boot/bzImage|strings gives /boot/bzImage is not a bzip2 file.
