Hi,
Im currently at university and the cd-rom drive on the computer I am at has eaten one of my cd's and wont give it back. For some reason I have access to /mnt/cdrom (Which we mere students normally dont have) but I cannot get it to eject the CD. It is just a music CD but I dont want to leave it sitting around :).
If anyone is up late tonight and think they have a solution for me then that would be brilliant - otherwise I will try find someone in the computer science admin to help.
Dave.
First of all, make sure you don't have any terminals or windows open that are currently in /mnt/cdrom.
try the following command: umount /mnt/cdrom
Note: it's not unmount (if the missing "n" is found, please return it to Berkley).
If all else fails, reboot the machine and take the cd out while it's booting. If that fails, find a paper clip. :-)
