Has anyone on this list tried The Gimp on Windows 2000?
If so, is it OK?

Yes - goes well, and its a metric truckload cheaper than photoshop etc.

Its a non-intuitive way to access all the menus though... students etc
don't think of the right mouse button.

Also, I haven't found the sharpen filter, or how to rotate an image by a
numeric amount, or how to reassign the keypresses to a photoshop
arrangement.... but that holds in windows and linux versions :)

Right-click on the image then go Filters -> Enhance -> Sharpen...

To rotate a block or an entire image select it, right-click on the
image then go Tools -> Transform Tools -> Transform, or just hit
Shift-T. You can then adjust via the dialog box or via left-click
and hold on the image...

Not sure about changing the keypresses, but normal convention of
Ctrl-X for Cut...Ctrl-V for paste etc...still holds for many things.

Hope this helps....

Kind regards,

Chris Wilkinson, Christchurch.
