Well I've run both 2.5.74 and 2.6test4 succressfully in Mandrake 9.1.
After updating to mod-init-tools they both worked fairly well. 2.6test4 is 
pretty much stable for me the only problems it seems to have is the loading 
of some of the modules at boot which is probably due to the use of a 
makeinitrd script that was designed by MDK for 2.4. As a result I have to 
manually load a few modules to get them working.
For me Test4 refuses to mount fat32 partions during boot that has to be done 
afterwards.
And supermount doesn't work correctly.
However I did manage to get the NVIDIA drivers working with it which was nice.
And It is abit more responcive than the various preemptive 2.4 kernels I've 
been playing with.
