The damage done apparently wrecks the CD-Drives. Updating the Firmware does 
not fix the problem. This applies not just to installing from CD but to 
install using any method on a system with an LG Drive. At the moment only 
LG-CD Drives appear to be affected, It apparently does not affect LG DVD or 
CDRW drives. Mandrake's Cooker list seems to have determined the cause of the 
problem being CDRW Packet writing support which was added to the Mandrake 
Kernel recently.
