Yeah, I'm the 'pewter' node out Avonhead way. I have a friend who's 1.2km away towards the University which should be reachable with a +12dB omni or sector antenna, but it's a bit expensive at the moment. Fab Corp sell a starter kit for $175US (http://www.fab-corp.com/R1.htm). RS has the cable but it's something silly like $50/m :)

but it would need a Sendo high power card to drive the signal far enough. Now, if there was someone inbetween that could repeat the signal for us...
