Tell your Dad that the card works well under Windows and all it requires is the correct, easily downloadable driver :-)
After you have told him that duck and run for cover. Seriously, I had a friend with a similar problem using a WinXP box and another card. There was some improvement by tuning the hardware versus software acceleration and also with the amount of three D rendering going on. The only solution that truly worked in the end was a better driver off the net. I think we ended up changing cards in the long run.
