Has anyone successfully set up a hot-pluggable hard drive under Linux
here? The point is to have off-site backup volumes in units of 120Gb :-)

I've been playing with an IDE to USB2 unit, and trying to store about
50+Gb onto it, at reasonable speeds.

With EHCI drivers (under 2.6.0-test11) it all seems to play happily, but
then eventually the disk dies - writes to it block indefinately, and if
the disk is umounted, it cannot be remounted (/dev/sda1 is not a valid
block device). Power cycling the disk generally allows it to re-attach,
but it still dies after use ...

With only UHCI drivers, I get under 1Mbps transfer speed, which is too
painful.

Any details of a working configuration would give me hope ...
