I see it quite a bit.  When I come into Uni in the morning and start up
Evolution it spends quite a bit of time in D state as it reads in the
Inbox of NFS and then polls the POP3 server for data.  Likewise Galeon
is often bound up in D state as it grabs data from the Web.
