There was a thread relating to this on the IPCop list. Apparently it was quicker to upload fixes6 and an updated patch file than it was to update the website. More than one person involved and Christmas pressures took priority.
The ez-ipupdate problem has been around for a while. I expect most, like me, would have fixed it themselves.
