sorry robert but creating symlinks is something that is in the gentoo install instructions do i know you have done it before....
ln -s /path/to/existing/file /path/to/link/name if /path/to/link/name already exists, but you want to change it, then the options are ln -sf (f = force) do yes, your second email is correct PS the gentoo-dev-sources ebuild creates the link to /usr/src/linux-beta but not the one to /usr/src/linux. I needed the second one to emerge nvidia-kernel.
