No need to go to that bother

cat /proc/interrupts
cat /proc/ioports

The setserial command is in IPCop.

IPCop is broadly based on RedHat 6.2, so the local commands go in
/etc/rc.d/rc.local

Make sure you have the IPCop correctly oriented during the plug and pray
epoch. :-)
