Hi all,

I finally managed to fix the problem, thanks for all the suggestions. I had already tried most of them without any success. We also reinstalled all the networking protocols etc. I did some more searching on the internet and found out that certain things can corrupt winsock somehow. I found a program called winsockfix. After I ran this, the problem was fixed.

Thanks

Luuk

Subject: OT: Windows 98 laptop can't connect to internet through IPcop box.
Date: Tue, 20 Jan 2004 09:29:16 +1300

Hi All,

I recently set up an IPcop box for my Dad with a dialup connection. I also set it up as a DHCP server for his network. The first four PC's (all running windows 98 se plugged into the network had no problems accessing the internet, but when we tried to plug my sister's laptop in (also win98se) it couldn't access the internet.

It obtained an IP address from the DHCP server and I can ping the ipcop box. I can also ping to www.google.com, so IP seems to be working at the command-line level. However, I can't open the IPcop admin page or any other page in the web browser. It is set up to obtain IP address automatically and connecto to the internet through the LAN.

Has anyone come across a similar problem and found a solution, or have any suggestions for things to try?

Thanks

Luuk
