Redhat(recognizing touchpads/modem

hi, i have just installed Redhat 9.0 on a Dell Inspiron 600m laptop (1.4 
mobile pentium/512MB).  i am having trouble figuring out how to get the 
touchpad recognised (i can only seem to configure mice), & how to connect to 
the internet (how do i get the internal modem recognised?).  i'd really 
appreciate any advice u can offer me
