I will admit that when I'm talking to a customer's computer on the
very far end of a very slow link, I will revert to vi, emacs Zealot
though I am.

Sort of like saying a chainsaw can do everything a knife can.

I usually challenge myself to learn / practise one new
feature of my environment a day.

Have a look at http://www.eclipse.org

I have a bash at it every so often, get frustrated by the fact it
seems huge, slow and crashes. Something Emacs never does to me. So I
delete Eclipse and ignore it for a month or ten. However, I'm aware
that others swear by it.

I would put it more strongly. I hate rats. I like emacs because I
hardly ever need to touch the Rat while editing. I use flwm window
manager since it lets me get by hardly ever touching the rat.

I used kde for awhile and got a vile case of "mouse arm", my shoulder
hurt like hell.

Yip, the world is divided into two kinds of people, those who divide
the world into two kinds of people and those who don't.

Note to all marketers. If you want to sell things to me, buy Google words.

I refuse on principle to buy anything sold by spam or popup and I
never follow any links found in a spam. I do however use Google and
will often follow the neat non-irritating Google Word ads that are of
interest to me.
