Here is the response I had from Microchip.....

At this point we do not have plans to release a Linux based version of the 
IDE.  Maybe in the future, but not for quite a while.

How very totaly non-comittal of her. Did you ask for support, or did you 
just ask what their standing is on a Linux IDE?
