The gentoo weekly news alerted me to a thread on spamassassin, from which i learned about some ways to improve spamassassin's rule sets. Forgive me if this is already well known, maybe I am a late starter, hopefully someone will find it useful.
http://www.exit0.us has lots of rulesets for spamassassin, and also a script RulesduJour which you can run from cron to download the updated rulesets as regularly as you like. The rulesets seem to improve things greatly, just from observations this morning.
