So YAST is OSS? Perhaps I am wrong, or do you not allow for that? What parts of Mandrake and Debian are not OSS - parts that are required to make the distro run/install (extras don't count, lots of non-OSS stuff can be installed over any distro after the fact)?

Check your facts before posting FUD. SuSE is 100% open source software.
Has always been. Except for those parts which aren't OSS in Debian or
Mandrake either.
