Hi Don,

The answer is "Yes".

One more example: I am using pine for email. When I hit 's' for "Save"
on your vcard attachment, pine asks:

"Save to address book or Export to filesystem ?"

Upon choosing the former option, your name and email address, and the
"Researcher" get transferred correctly to the pine addressbook. Some
of the other fields are not supported by pine.

It is also quite easy to write your own software for the creation or
analysis of the vcard format. The only problem is that different
software products vary greatly in the number and set of supported
fields. I once had to deal with it when I switched over from an old HP
95LX palmtop to a Psion: While the Psion accepted vcf for import, the
HP's address DB was in a proprietary binary format. Since I had
several hundred addresses in the HP, I analysed the HP format, and
wrote a C program to convert the data to vcf.

Kind regards,

Helmut.
