Only if they did word-processing, and contrary to many people's
expectations, that's not really an every-day task.

I only use OOo about once every couple of months, when I need to read
someone MSWord doc. If I'm writing an article, I'll use LyX.

Otherwise I write notes in mind-maps, and document in config files and
web pages. :-)

Why anyone would use powerpoint is beyond me. It is CRAP! Especially the OfficeXP version. We had serious dramas at a function I was helping organise last year. Last minute changes to the presentation... and ... it completely spat the dummy (blonde didn't have a backup...). Wouldn't open, no way no how. We then tried opening it in OO. What do you know? While some of the slides were a bit borked, it loaded, and enabled us to salvage most of the presentation. I repeat, The OfficeXP version of PowerPoint corrupted the file and then wouldn't open it. Open Office opened it and enabled the evening to go ahead.
Which is better then?
Cheers
Anton

... All [zoos] actually offer to the public in return for the taxes spent
upon them is a form of idle and witless amusement, compared to which a
visit to a penitentiary, or even to a State legislature in session, is
informing, stimulating and ennobling.
