Yes, sending attachments to a mailing list is a bad idea.
Congratulations, you've just wasted (327kB * (number of list
subscribers) - (number of subscribes who wanted to see the PDF)).
It would've been a much better idea to post a link to the PDF--or mail
it directly to those wanting to see it.
