'Urro.. For the thin clients, consider some wyse winterms. They do X as well as rdp/citrix.. We have one at work I got for appro before selecting HP T5300 thin clients for the council, so you can borrow it for a play if you want..
These devices (and the T5300's we use now) have distinct advantages in an office, as they have no fans/drives so are silent. If your server is hidden away in a back room you can have a truly silent environment. The one we have is a top-end one, costs about $800 from memory, but they come a lot cheaper than that, down to as low as $450 depending on ports/specs etc. I've not played with the X functionality, but I imagine it'd work fine, as the units run Linux as their base OS.
