I had a fairly extensive 'play', as opposed to 'use', with Freemoney a long time ago, and can report that it worked as it claimed. It appears to have changed extensively since then. At that stage it obviously had considerable potential. From the mail list to which I subscribed at the time I gathered that it was used for real fairly widely in Eastern Europe. The project leader at the time seem to be much better at the 'ra-ra' than code production. He then got a job, and Freemoney fell into a suspend mode for a while. It then got picked up by this Dane who has brought it back to life. It appears that one of the things he has done is to make the aesthetics of the reporting and invoice paper-work really quite attractive.

I know nothing about the linuxcanada product apart from the fact it exists and from the publicity material looks as if it might be quite a good thing. One advantage is that the implementation of GST in Canada is virtually the same as it is in NZ. I don't think it's a fully GPL Free Software project. About a year or so ago there was mention on this list that a suit of COBOL programs written here in NZ was about to be GPL'ed. The thread then went silent. Anybody know what happened? -- Sincerely etc. Christopher Sawtell NB. This PC runs Linux. If you find a virus apparently from me, it has forged the e-mail headers on someone else's machine. Please do not notify me when this occurs. Thanks.
