rubbish. there have been many posts to this list and to NZLUG asking for staff, or for consultants to help out with something. Most request answers off list. That is entirely fine by me. Actually the bery regular "can someone supply me with the cd's for distro foo, I'll pay" is commercial if you want to take it that far - the payment of, say, $5.00 per CD is greater than the raw material cost [1], and there is therefore a gross profit in the supply. Are we to stop this? I have also seen many people pointing such requests to e-caf or copyleft. Thise are commercial organisations - should we ban those posts too. I believe this list is working well and is effectively self policing. Lets talk about something productive, like the next installfest that no-one seems to have got off their butt about....(I am not talking about the gentoo thingy) [1] there may be no net profit after taking into account the bandwidth cost to download the iso and the depreciation on the cd burner. > > > > If it benefits list members then why not? > > > > > web sites for this very purpose. > > You have split the sentence which provides the answer. > > I, personally, do not want to have to plough through dozens of requests to > supply messages in order to find a very occasional on topic gem.
