I suggest you try running KNOPPIX 3.3 or 3.4 on ANY machine you're attempting to install on. 1. It will do nice identification .. 2. It will give you a basic idea of what you'll end up with .. 3. If knoppix won't run on it - I suggest its going to be in the "too much of a PITA" and needs a closer look.
