I'm not sure about that. What does line from ps mean?

root 1288 0.0 4.8 22044 18864 tty1 RN+ 20:00
0:02 /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.3/cc1plus

/var/tmp/portage/kdegames-3.2.2/temp/fakehome/.ccache/tmp.stdout.liberty.1282.ii
-quiet -dumpbase tmp.stdout.liberty.1282.ii -march=pentium2 -ansi
-auxbase-strip
/var/tmp/portage/kdegames-3.2.2/temp/fakehome/.ccache/tmp.hash.liberty.1282
o -O2 -O2 -Wnon-virtual-dtor -Wno-long-long -Wundef -Wcast-align -Wconversion

It seems to be running as root doesn't it?

I agree it should be running as the portage user, but I don't think it is.

NB. This PC runs Linux. If you find a virus apparently from me,
it has forged the e-mail headers on someone else's machine.
Please do not notify me when this occurs. Thanks.
