You can always work around a PC ban by getting a MAC. :-)

I whole-heartedly agree. Darwin is a very good operating system, albeit a little idiosyncratic, and the proprietary GUI on top works perfectly. And with the Fink Project, you can still have package-managed applications from the real world ... :-)


Personally, I use OS X as my main machine at home, and a Debian box at work. However, all my *real* data lives on a series of Debian and FreeBSD machines around the Internet :-)

You get the seamless "it just works" Apple stuff, and you get everyone else's applications under X windows. It probably would suit you, Don, seriously ...
