Thanks to all the suggestions, I won't bother to reply to each one, but 
i've talked things over and handed out a knoppix cd, no doubt he's going 
to find that pretty good and want something more permanant, and i've 
already tried out the hdd install of knoppix, so maybe I can apply that 
to the friends machine.

anyway, big help, its given me a few ideas, i might just try and make 
him go to the instalfest :)

I don't have any mandrake cd's handy, but i'll wait and see what his 
response was to knoppix, then worry about tracking some down :)

the only thing I didnt really like about knoppix was the whole kde side, 
im not really a big fan. I know theres gnoppix, but i've never 
downloaded it.
anyway, i digress.
