Okay then. lpq and lprm should be the UI designer's friend. What M J-S describes is already achievable. There are tools (like lpq etc) for querying the status of the spool, which the UI designer can use to create the dialog boxes that M J-S is asking for. I totally agree with M J-S. What he suggested in an earlier post would be the most elegant way I can think of to deal with this. Yuri
