I agree.
Further, I will jump onto a hobby horse I have.
I find the linking of GNU and Linux as GNU/Linux to be misleading.
It implies that
a) Linux is only GPL software
b) Linux is dependant on GNU for it's well being. This has some merit -
GNU supplied gcc. However, someone else would have supplied gcc equivalent.
Sure, much of the software on a linux box is GNU based. again, the
same argument applies. Others would have provided equivalent
software.
c) GNU is only on linux boxes. Well, GNU software is on windows, BSD,
suns, embedded boxes...
Finally,
in what way will changing the name to anything else further the spread
of linux/unix/free software/quality software ?
