Does anyone have any recommendations for a good reasonably priced Linux dual head video card?
I'm using a Matrox G400/G450 at work. Works well, if you don't need 3d stuff. Had to download some driver to get the dual head to work though.
Also, nice quality 19 - 22 inch monitors at a good price, CRT or flat
panel?
I have a second hand HP p1100 21 inch CRT and (while my boss is away) a HP L1925 19 inch LCD (which is almost exactly the same viewable area as th 21 inch, BTW). I'm happy with both.
I've been watching someone with a dual head setup under windows and I'm
amazed at the increase of productivity they're getting from working with
two screens.
It certainly helps a lot. Developing software, I often need some combination of emacs, the running application, email, documentation, GUI test software, and web browser, and, of course, bash in a terminal emulator. Come to think of it, I could make use of more screens....
My wife works at the Orion call centre in Chch, and she showed me around a week ago. The main guy who controls the power grid sits in front of 4-5 21 inch monitors.
Cheers, Carl.
