I've found that its pretty much plug and go. There's only three USB controller chips, UHCI, OHCI, and for USB2 theres EHCI
An advantage of a hub is that you don't have to grope around the back to plug things, and that hubs also provide power. Also they don't take up PCI slots. Many new mother boards have 4 to 6 USB ports already. -----Original Message----- From: Volker Kuhlmann [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, 6 July 2004 2:04 p.m. To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: USB cards + Linux Being short of a USB plug and with PCI cards ($20 Tastech) being much cheaper than hubs, what's the general opinion of these cards under Linux - is it plug in and go (as usually happens with mobo USBs), or does it have to be decided on a case-by-case basis?
