This email is comming at you from my windows partition.

This is because KDE will not work. When I give the startx command X starts and fails. I can start X with icewm but only use gnome apps. If I try to use KDE apps they fail to start.

Here is the contents of my $HOME/.xsessions-errors file;

startkde: Starting up...
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
DCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-2387' to 'kded'
kded: ERROR: Communication problem with kded, it probably crashed.
DCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-2390' to 'knotify'
ERROR: Communication problem with knotify, it probably crashed.
startkde: Shutting down...
klauncher: Exiting on signal 1
startkde: Running shutdown scripts...
startkde: Done.

Any suggestions?

Neither of your two suggestions worked Nick. Home partition only 4% full.

I have been floundering around with xinit and startkde. Nothing seems to work.

I appeal to you all, help me fix it or the installation cops it. :(
