actually canon might make a very fine product for windows, and i did not
mean otherwise.  however you might like to consider, next time you go to
buy a printer, that canon have effectively removed your choice of
operating system if you want to use their printer. vote with your
wallet.

yes, may I suggest the following - i assume xp or win2k as your original
OS.

download the systemrescuecd from here, or if you are still in chch give
me a call on 3288001 and i will give you one, or email me and I will
send you one.

boot the cd and run the program qtparted by typing run_qtparted from the
command line.

use qt_parted to delete the mandrake partitions and enlarge your xp
partition back to full size.

reboot with your xp cd and get to the point where it offers to run a
repair console. run the command fixmbr to restore your boot loader.

I assume you were backed up in preparation for yesterday, the same rule
applies before you do this!
