Is there a way to stop the Open Office splash screen taking over all 4
desktops while Oo is loading?
Try the procedure outlined here: http://www.newsforge.com/software/03/04/22/1931223.shtml?tid=51
I've never got around to trying this myself, so no warranty.

It had been annoying me too.
The repair stops both the splash & the loading process from following you around, desktop to desktop, always in the way, until the OOo program materialises on your current desktop. Now it will stay put on the desktop where it was told to open. :-)
On Gnome 2.2, that is.
Cheers,
Rik
