I'm not sure if anyone has looked at this, a quick google shows that HP intend it for LTSP use (although it does come with Windows CE.NET) what about the option of approaching HP and having them sponsor an LTSP setup. These thin clients go for RRP$450 sans monitor and come with a 3 year warranty.
One of the biggest benefits for using thin clients or mini itx based machines is the low power consumption involved. When you're talking about a school with 30+ computers, often on 24/7, the savings from using low powered machines are easily in the thousands per year. (if my calculations are correct). An additional advantage of using something like the T5300 is that should the target school decide to abandon an LTSP network they have a machine that is usable as a windows thin client too. Sascha PS. I think I've pointed out before the YMCA has used LTSP effectively through most of its locations in christchurch. Including the Youth Training Centre (YTC) which is technically a school. Should anyone wish to view this setup and how we've gone about things contact me offlist and I can probably arrange something.
