Interesting. I've been a KDE user since it was in beta, i.e. since before Gnome was even a sparkle in RMS's eye. Therefore, I suppose I've been habituated to it, and find Gnome culturally 'difficult & ugly'. Takes all sorts. Here's a list of the apps. I use. Desk Top Publishing, and slide preparation. Scribus. Raster image generation and manipulation Gimp ImageMagick Vector image preparation Inkscape, transitioning from Xfig. DataBase PostgreSQL Typesetting TeX, with LaTeX & LyX. Scripting Language Ruby Text Editor Kate, transitioning ( with difficulty :-) from vim. Web browsing and file fetching and management. Konqueror, and Mozilla when Konqui occasionally fails to render correctly. E-mail Kmail IRC XChat2. The other Gnome package I use on a regular basis. PostScript and PDF viewer Kghostview I've used Kword in the past but Scribus is much better. I have OpenOffice on board, but do not like it. It's useful for viewing files emanating from the Axis of Avarice, but otherwise I don't use it. -- Sincerely etc., Christopher Sawtell
