If your question is totally offtopic, then it'll annoy some people as well. Like the guy who wanted a copy of something like notepad.exe for his windows machine a while back.
Apart from that ask away.
Also, don't be intimidated by the fact that some list members talk about stuff which is quite advanced, and newbies will probably feel totally clueless when they read it. (e.g. shell scripting or kernel fiddling). There are plenty of beginner users on the list. You are not alone.
