True, I remember experiencing similar frustration when I learnt to drive: three pedals, all next to each other, and all of them do something different. However, I think Douglas Engelbart (who invented the mouse) said it best when he made the analogy between the bicycle and tricycle: a bike is harder to learn, but it allows you do do far more than a trike. That is why people ride to work on a bike ;)
