I would like to point out that the act of using a pen to circumvent copy-protection (as commonly performed on some audio-cd protection schemes) is criminal now in Germany. Whether this is actually enforced is completely beside the point, the possibility of being persecuted for it is sufficiently worrying by itself. Worse, talking about it is criminal too (publishing/disseminating information about copy protections) if I read the legalese fragments posted here correctly. Restricting this freedom of information is the much bigger worry. Restricting the freedom to disseminate information on making bombs may be acceptable, but copying CDs (even if done for profit) doesn't kill anyone. The copyright mafia simply has no regard for any sensible proportion (or peoples' rights, for that matter).
